GREEN BAY, Wis., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ube was born out of the seedling of an idea brought to Graham by Latasha Young, a Milwaukee-based stylist. As a hair weave client herself, she was looking for a solution to make the quick weave more comfortable and longer lasting. When asked why she chose Graham Professional Beauty to pitch her idea, Young replied, "They're a well-established, stable company and well-known for their products, like their Wrap Strips and Sanek Neckstrips. I knew they could develop the best product."
Intrigued by Young's initial idea, the company began a two-year process of researching materials, creating and refining the design, and testing the product until the right combination met the company's stringent standards. Ube surpassed all requisites and is expected to change the way hair weaves are done.
Ube speeds up the quick weave process. Typical quick weaves require two steps before hair can be attached. Existing hair is first molded to the head with wrap strips, which can take up to 30 to 45 minutes to dry, and then is topped with a wig cap. With Ube, there is no need for wrap strips, paper towel, nets, plastic shower caps, or hot wig caps. Ube can be molded directly to the head with bonding adhesive, which cannot seep through to damage a client's natural hair.
Ube not only molds comfortably to the shape of the head it stays in place for a longer-lasting weave. Another unique plus is that only weaves created with Ube can be washed, blow-dried, and restyled.
Young herself can attest to the claim. "I wore it in the shower," she said. "It stayed in place and didn't fall apart after washing and drying it."
What does Young think of Graham Professional Beauty's Ube? "The product is dead-on. Exactly what I'd hoped it to be."
The people at Graham Professional Beauty are also happy with their one-of-a-kind product. "We're excited about introducing the Ube hair weave cap to the professional salon market," said Rich Thompson, Vice President of Marketing for Graham Professional. "It's a great product and we're optimistic it will be well-received by both stylists and their clients."
Thompson also pointed out that even with all the research and product testing, it's the customer who will ultimately determine the success of Ube. And it all started with a stylist who had an idea and a company that listened.
